Senior Power Systems Engineer

About the role

Aurecon is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to lead grid‑connection, system‑strength and power‑quality studies for renewable generation and transmission projects. You will work closely with Lead and Principal Engineers, delivering technical solutions while expanding your leadership capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct power system studies including GPS, system strength, power quality and transmission/distribution planning.
• Develop and validate RMS and EMT models for inverter‑based generation.
• Support registration, GPS compliance and commissioning with government authorities and network service providers.
• Perform harmonic and interaction assessments and prepare technical reports.
• Use PSS®E and PSCAD/EMTDC for modelling and dynamic simulation workflows.
• Participate in client meetings, technical workshops and collaborate under senior engineering guidance.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in power system studies.
• Experience with NEM grid connections and inverter‑based generation.
• Working proficiency in PSS®E and PSCAD.
• Strong technical foundation with a desire to move into leadership.
