Mechanical Engineer – Industrial Projects

About the role

Aurecon is expanding its mechanical engineering capability to support rapid growth in New Zealand’s industrial and manufacturing sectors. The role involves delivering high‑impact, multi‑discipline projects for key and platinum customers, from concept design through to commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead small to medium‑sized mechanical projects, ensuring delivery meets client expectations and business goals.
• Develop detailed mechanical and piping designs, technical specifications, and manage drawing packages.
• Support construction management and commissioning activities on‑site across New Zealand.
• Collaborate with multi‑discipline teams and progressively take on client‑facing responsibilities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (Washington Accord accredited).
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in mechanical or piping design.
• Interest in developing project‑management skills and willingness to travel to site locations.

Required skills

• Mechanical and piping design expertise.
• Technical specification development and drawing management.
• Hygienic and pressure piping system design, surge, pipe‑stress and hydraulic analysis.
• Knowledge of PECPR requirements, AS/NZS 1170, ASME B31 code suite.
• Familiarity with AutoPIPE, PIPE‑FLO or similar piping software.
